Naturally gorgeous skin: Our MooGoo Review

MooGoo review

When I first herd (see what I did there??) about MooGoo I thought they were all about products for mums with bubs, but I was delighted to discover that they are so much more, offering a huge range of skin and hair products from speciality creams and moisturisers, to edible lip balms, deodorant and an intriguing expresso exfoliant.

Where does the name ‘MooGoo’ come from?

Despite the cute milk carton-esque packaging and prevalence of cows, MooGoo contains no dairy. The name ‘MooGoo’ came about when its creator discovered his mum using a product made specially for cows for her skin condition. The “Udder Cream” being used in dairy farms was created to help keep the skin on cow’s udders soft and supple. However it was very thick to apply so he set about adapting this cream for humans (including his mum) by making it lighter and non-greasy.

Why you should try MooGoo

MooGoo is an Australian company with an entire range of natural and gentle products made with effective ingredients and no gimmicks (apart from a lot of bovine references!) They love natural plant oils and extracts and proudly list and explain all of their ingredients on their website. If you follow their Facebook page you’ll see that they have a weekly series where ‘Perry’ eats an assortment of MooGoo-laced snacks which supports their philosophy of only using natural, non-irritating ingredients, as close to food as possible.

Their pricing is very reasonable, and they offer free shipping for orders over $100 from their online store (otherwise its a $6.90 flat rate). I also checked their list of stockists and found that they are available in most pharmacies.

MooGoo review

When we were invited to review the MooGoo range I was spoilt for choice. Because I don’t have a particular skin condition, I asked them to make it easy for me and send me some of their faves.  And look at this  range of natural goodness that turned up on my door from the MooGoo team:

MooGoo review

All have been a welcome addition to my daily skin care regime, and how cute is the packaging!

I have been using their 100% certified organic rosehip oil which is full of fatty acids and antioxidants to help smooth my not so fine lines every evening. It leaves a nice dewy finish which is helping me look less tired in the mornings (and I am always tired!) The oil is 100% pure goodness with only one ingredient which is Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil.

MooGoo reviewMooGoo’s Natural Soothing MSM Cream is great for dry, cracked skin. Apparently MSM is an Organic Sulphur compound present in every cell of the body. It has been proven to be a great skin softener and soothing compound for irritated skin. The cream is also full of other natural skin healing ingredients including Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil and Honey. Sounds divine right? I have been using it to keep my hands, elbows and knees looking (and smelling) sweet.

I like keeping their Natural Anti-Bacterial Hand Moisturiser in my handbag. It’s awesome for little Ms R who can’t help touching *everything* when we are out and about because it still manages to kill 99.99% of germs while being alcohol free (yay – no sting!) It relies instead on a blend of essential oils to kill bacteria with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to avoid skin drying out. It also has a fresh we’ve-zapped-all-the-nasties kind of smell which is reassuring. I have the 100ml size, but there’s also a monster 270ml for use at home too.

MooGoo reviewAnother handbag staple is MooGoo’s Shea Sorbet. I am a sucker for anything with lime essential oil and this intense moisturising butter balm is just gorgeous for my cracked lips. It keeps my lips soft and moist. I have also been putting some on my feet and it has been great to remedy my cracked heels. Kind of weird to use the same product on your feet and lips, but that’s what it says on the tin and it works!

The kids have been loving the bubbles from the Natural Mini Moo Bubbly Wash. The bubbly wash is suitable for kids and babies and blends small amounts of six different natural cleaners to be gentler on the skin than one concentrated cleanser. MooGoo has also added Colloidal Rice Bran to create a silky film that keeps the skin moisturised and smooth.

  • This moo-ther gives all my time to a paddock full of boys so would love to pamper moo-self without feeling guilty would be udderly mootastic!

  • I’m seriously fed up with going without and I’m being honest I get nothing for myself between my kids and my partner they get everything

  • If I don’t start looking after myself how am I going to be at peak performance to look after them. Love them to bits but I am tired out.

  • I literally own the same bras from pre-kids… my oldest is 5. I have 3 boys and my life revolves around them and I would LOVE something for myself and to be a little selfish for once.

  • As a grandmother looking after a 3 and 1 year old I certainly need some skin care and I do love to pamper my grandchildren.

  • as i know im young as i feel but a woman always needs pampering and moisturising to keep her youth even though I am exhausted

  • I need to spoil myself so that I get pampered too, I’m always on my feet at home, at a computer at work and never have any me time.

  • Because I want my skin to be smooth as my babies’ bums.. plus that expresso exfoliant sounds like it’s gonna wake up the heck out of my tired looking skin!!!

  • Because I’m tired of settling for things I don’t really want and putting myself last all the time.

  • Somewhere along the way I lost my identity, passion and I stopped working towards everything other than family that I once dreamed. Don’t get me wrong, my family are my world, but it’s time I took a moment, relaxed and began working towards those wonderful dreams again. There is plenty of room for fulfillment and happiness to fit into my world.

  • It’s about time I herd all my inner e-moo-tions and embrace a true motherly pampering; relaxing from the every day, taking time to appreciate the little things that come my way. Thanks for the opportunity to win and good luck everyone!.

  • This year I turn 40. I’m tired of feeling 80 so I think its time I started looking after myself

  • After so long, I don’t know how to spoil myself, so it would be wonderful to think differently

  • Kapooof! Point finger, uh oh it’s cracked, chipped, got baby spew on it, let’s crank up mummy pampering.

  • Today I looked in the mirror and I thought who is that looking back at me?
I’d love some pampering to feel good about turning another year older in june. And to catch those cheeky sneaky wrinkles that have crept up on me!

  • I’ve heard great things about Moo Goo from friends, especially with Psoriasis, I would love to take some time to pamper myself!

  • I have quite bad psoriasis particularly on my scalp and back of my neck. It’s embarrassing for people to see as well as I shed the flaking skin on my clothing. Two of my children also have eczema. I do all I can to soothe their itches through diet, lotions and using prescription steroids. But I also have my own itches which are screaming for relief.
