Easy healthy pork and beans

Looking for a new recipe to add to your meal repertoire? This five ingredient pork and beans recipe is big on taste with none of the nasties. It’s actually my mother’s own recipe. I remember this food fondly because Mama used to cook this for me a lot. It was my special Sunday meal. I had to harass Mama to make sure I got this recipe right.

Ingredients

  • Pork belly
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • 2 cans of organic beans (mixed beans is fine too)
  • Chicken stock

Method:

Fry up the garlic, onion and pork belly till the pork is brown-ish. Chuck everything in the slow cooker, including the beans. Add a cup or two of water or stock. Cook for 1-2 hours. Make sure you have enough water or stock.

If you don’t have  a slow cooker, just slow cook it like you normally would on stove top. Cook until the pork is tender.

Serve with rice or eat on its own. However you serve it it will end up tasting just like Mama’s!
