5 minutes with Hi-5

Hi-5 Happy Holidays DVD

Celebrating all things fun and festive, Hi-5’s brand new ‘Happy Holidays’ DVD has been released just in time for Christmas.

Join Stevie, Ainsley, Dayen, Mary and newest Hi-5 member, Tanika, as they party and play in the true Hi-5 way. The Christmas DVD features everything from Christmas elves and Santa workshops to wacky weddings and even a tropical pool party.

Hi-5The DVD features Songs of the Week, It’s a Party, It’s Our Planet, Playtime and a Dance Lesson with Hi-5 plus highlights of Hi-5’s educational trip to Myanmar to visit the local kids with World Vision.

Hi-5 is one of world’s most loved and successful preschool children’s entertainment groups and has won three Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Children’s Program, five ARIA Awards for Best Children’s Album, five Australian DVD and Video Industry Awards, an APRA Award, an AMIA Award and a Helpmann Award. They have two Apollo Award Nominations for Best Music Composition for Hi-5 House Series 1 and 2.

We were lucky enough to get five minutes with Hi-5 so we asked them our five burning questions:

What has been your favourite fan moment?

Mary: We were doing a TV interview in the Philippines where the fans got to ask us any question they wanted. One little girl asked us to come to her house for dinner! It was so sweet!

What is your all-time favourite Hi-5 song to perform?

Ainsley: I love ‘Making Music’! It’s a really fun to rock out to and do your best air guitar!

How has being part of Hi-5 changed your life?

Stevie: It’s hard to put into words how much Hi-5 has changed my life but it really has. It’s been part of my life for nine years and it always will be even after I leave the group. I have met the most wonderful people, travelled the world, I’ve been on three trips with World Vision and experienced things I never would have if I didn’t join. It’s the best job in the world!

What’s the most difficult thing about being in Hi-5?

Dayen: I’d say being away from home for around nine months months of the year can be pretty hard. Even though I miss my dogs a lot, I wouldn’t change it for the world!

And what’s the best thing about being part of it?

Tanika: We get to sing, dance and play all day everyday and we’re all so close that it’s like travelling around with my brothers and sisters! The food is definitely the best part of travelling but the other cast members are the best things about being part of it all.

The new Hi-5 DVD is a great Christmas present for preschoolers and can be downloaded via Google Play for AUD$12.99 HD or AUD$9.99 SD. It is also available at all good retailers for $14.95 RRP.

  • We love getting crafty and making our own christmas themed decorations. It’s a great way to get the kiddies involved and there’s such a sense of pride when they see their baubles and cut out reindeer hanging on the tree.

  • I love taking them out Xmas eve light hunting and watching a Chrissy movie after we do so many little things on Xmas eve reindeer food and santas snack they all add up to a magical morning full of excitement and squeals

  • We do elf on the shelf to extend the magic of christmas, our little man loves it and gets so excited

  • C – Celebrating Christ
    H – Hoovering glorious food
R – Remembering those less fortunate and those we’ve lost
I – Instilling traditions and creating lifetime memories
S – Santa Clause secretly squeezing through the key hole
T – Tree adorned with prettiness with loads of gifts underneath
M – Magical time for my little girls
A – All about family and friends
S – Singing Christmas Carols for a whole month non-stop!

  • I try and do lots of Christmas craft activities with them in the lead up the big day, also there always has to be a trail of crumbs from the reindeer and Santa footprints through the house

  • My kids were always saying “But there’s no fireplace”. This year like others we made decorations and have a treasure hunt advent calendar but I had them collect a heap of drift wood from the river we live on and we spent a week turning it into a fireplace. We decorated it with woodland critters and built a fake fire with cellophane and sticks. They did a pretty awesome job.

  • We love to take the kids for an after-dark drive every Christmas Eve so they can take in all the Christmas lights. Its a magical evening for us as some of the houses nearby get full on festive! Its a later night than usual for the kids but it helps them get to sleep despite their excitement and with any luck gives us a little bit more sleep Christmas morning 🙂

  • We have huge family gathering Christmas mid-morning, all Presents placed under tree with me surrounded by littlies, who very excitedly assist giving them out,

  • We’re having a backyard Christmas this year and I’ve decorated our baby Norfolk Pine instead of the usual plastic tree inside. This is also because we have 2 furry felines and a 17 month old who are weapons of mass destruction around all things that sparkle and hang.

  • We started our own Christmas advent tradition where we share a festive story with each other for the 24 days leading up to Christmas. Some stories are old, some are new, others are borrowed and when the kids go to bed some of the stories are blue!
